The Nine Elements of Digital Citizenship

In their book, Digital Citizenship in Schools, Gerald Bailey and Mike Ribble address the issues of living in a digital society.
They have identified nine elements of living in a digital society.

As a class we will be looking at these various elements throughout the year.

The nine elements are:

1. Digital Access (full electronic participation in society)
2. Digital Literacy (the process of teaching and learning about technology and the use of technology)
3. Digital Communication (electronic exchange of information)
4. Digital Etiquette (electronic standards of conduct or procedure)
5. Digital Rights (those freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world)
6. Digital Security (electronic precautions to guarantee safety)
7. Digital Law (electronic responsibility for actions and deeds)
8. Digital Commerce (electronic buying and selling of goods)
